Apothecary Jar Candles FAQs
What are apothecary candles?
GoodLight offers a collection of scented candles in amber colored jars that we like to call our Apothecary Jar Candles. Back in the day (think Little House On the Prairie), apothecary jars were used by druggists to hold pharmaceuticals. The amber color helped protect the jar’s contents from light and prolong its shelf life.
Can a candle in a glass jar start a fire?
Any candle can start a fire. That’s why it is very important to be safe and smart when using candles of all kinds. Don’t ever leave a burning candle unattended and make sure to keep it out of reach of children and flammable objects.
Will a jar candle burn itself out?
Like any candle, a jar candle will burn itself out eventually if you don’t blow it out first. If there is no more wax to fuel the flame, the wick will self-extinguish. When this happens, make sure you handle the jar with care - it may be hot, especially if it has been burning for hours.
